Mandate

The Department of Finance is responsible for managing financial resources to ensure the efficient execution of various programs. Furthermore, it plays a key role in supervising commercial and business development services and overseeing stores management. The department is dedicated to carrying out the following specific functions:

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and submits financial management reports to ensure compliance with regulations and support informed decision-making.
  • Develops and implements internal controls to promote transparency and accountability in the use of financial and material resources.
  • Collects and manages levies, tariffs, tolls, vehicle licensing fees, and other revenues to protect public resources and support the budget.
  • Maintains expenditure and commitment ledgers to ensure proper utilisation of public funds.
  • Conducts research to identify and establish new business ventures.
  • Oversees the provision of hospitality and other business services.
  • Accounts for assets to safeguard public property.
  • Prepares and submits annual audited accounts to inform decision-making.
  • Manages stores efficiently to ensure proper inventory control.
  • Implements risk management strategies to minimise potential losses.
  • Handles payroll management for staff effectively.
