CHONGWE, 12th December, 2024 -Senanga Town Council is among the 21 Local Authorities currently gathered at Lusaka Legacy Resort under the second phase of the National Budget Hearing for Local Authorities. The meeting was officially opened in the first phase by the Permanent Secretary for Administration in the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr. Maambo Hamaundu, on 4th December, 2024.
The gathering allows Local Authorities (LAs) to present their proposed 2025 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) budgets for review and guidance before adoption by their respective Councils.
Senanga Town Council has proposed a total budget of K87Million for consideration, and following guidance and necessary amendments, the proposed budget will be deliberated upon by the Finance Committee on 19th December 2024 and subsequently adopted by the Full Council on 30th December, 2024.
The meeting which is expected to conclude tomorrow 13th December, 2024 involves Councils from Southern, Western, and Central Provinces, reflecting a regional approach to fostering accountability and alignment with national development goals.
Through this collaborative platform, LAs are empowered to make informed financial decisions that will directly benefit citizens by addressing key areas such as infrastructure, education, health and economic development. The process also strengthens governance by allowing for inclusive participation and oversight.
